My friend Claudette texted me this morning and asked if I wanted to be her guest at a MAX Challenge workout. I’ve been trying to exercise every day and this offer was very well timed because it was going to snow and I didn’t want to walk outside, so I said YES! Plus I wanted to see her.

Exercising is a bit of a chore for me, so when I exercise I like to do it with people, especially folks who don’t take themselves too seriously and have no problem putting themselves “out there”.  I had never heard of The MAX Challenge and Claudette is a great “putting it all out there” kinda friend, so  I was excited and IT WAS SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!

The MAX Challenge is a 10-week body transformation program that is designed to make fast and lasting changes to your appearance and well being. The classes are lead by a personal trainer and the workouts change each day. They also provide nutritional counseling and motivation to keep going.

This is what made it fun:

  • There were people of all ages and fitness levels there

  • I never got so many high-fives in my life

  • I got a really great workout, I sweat my butt off and will be sore tomorrow

  • I laughed a lot and met really great people



The trainer who lead the session had a surprise for everyone. He had us write a personal goal on a piece of wood and then write what our blocks are for achieving that goal on the back of the piece of wood. He then taught us how to throw a Karate Chop and had each of us chop the wood in half – symbolizing crushing our blocks and getting to our goal. I almost cried it was so powerful. I admit, it took me a few tries but I DID IT!!!!! This is probably one of my biggest personal accomplishments in a while, seriously! Have you ever Karate Chopped a piece of wood in half?

Anyway, keep your body moving people and step outside your comfort zone as much as possible, if you do you can achieve great things, you might even surprise yourself!
